Happy New Year
I hope that the new year brings you all you wish for.
All members received an email from the National Chairman, Colin Valentine. It was full of good news regarding CAMRAs campaigning successes.
At our Branch meeting last weekend members voted for our Branch Brewery of the Year. Countrylife Brewery, Clearwater Brewery and Holsworthy Ales were all very worthy nominees. Holsworthy Ales was selected for a second year. Congratulations to Dave.
Our Social Secretary has been very busy organising events for us all to enjoy – please take a look at the Tutored Beer Tasting and at the Exmoor brewery trip and get in touch with Mark if you are interested (or email me and I will forward it). You will also see the date for our Branch Annual General Meeting [Saturday March 28th at the Black Horse in Torrington]. I am really looking forward to seeing you there. If your local is holding a beer festival please email me the details so that I can include it and other members can enjoy it.
Our latest edition of Beer Tiz is currently being distributed and Ron would love to receive letters, articles, comments, in fact anything!
Branch Pubs Officers and the Branch Committee are currently very active visiting pubs which have been nominated for inclusion in the Good Beer Guide 2016 (yes we really do have to plan that far ahead!) We are also working hard on the selection of our Branch Pub Of The Year. I received a record number of nominations which have been shortlisted to a final three – The Red Lion at Exbourne, The Railway at North Tawton and The Grove at Kings Nympton. It is a real pleasure to visit all three pubs on several occasions and judge them using the CAMRA National Pub Of The Year judging criteria.
This weekend several of us are working at Exeter Branch’s Festival Of Winter Ales. I look forward to seeing you there.
Cheers and beers
