Please accept my apologies for not making it to the last meeting and for the lateness of this mailout. I have been suffering from this awful cold that has been doing the rounds. I have been ‘under the weather’ since Christmas and just don’t seem to be able to shake it off!
There are a lot of new dates on the Information Update, which can be seen in Whats On. Lots of exciting things happening!! We have meetings scheduled right through to September so that you can plan ahead. I have also been receiving information about beer festivals and events, so do take a look.
We have received our usual invitation for members to work on the bar at Tuckers Maltings SIBA Beer Festival. If you are interested in this very busy event then please let Branch Secretary Chris know by the end of January so that she can forward a group booking. [firstname.lastname@example.org]
Do you have discerning taste buds? There is another Tasting Panel Training session taking place in Plymouth on March 6th. Trained tasting panel members are extremely important. The data they produce informs such things as Good Beer Guide tasting notes and Champion Beer Of Britain selection. All it involves is a few hours training then lots of drinking beer, completing tasting cards and forwarding them to me. Easy! Let me know if you are interested and I will keep you informed.[email@example.com]
Our next Branch meeting is our
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
SATURDAY 12th MARCH, 12.30
THE BLUE LION, LEWDOWN
Social Secretary Mark has arranged a minibus from the north of the branch so please book your place with him. [firstname.lastname@example.org]
If you have any motions which you would like to propose for discussion at the AGM then please forward them to Branch Secretary Chris by 1st March for inclusion on the Agenda. No motions will be accepted on the day. [email@example.com]
At the AGM I shall be standing down as Membership Secretary. So we are looking to recruit! It really is the best committee role and although I am sure I make it appear hard work and time consuming that is my choice! All that is really required is to process new and lapsed memberships once a month, and that can all be done through the CamRA website. Very, very easy. I do hope that you will consider taking it over and of course I will lend a hand until you feel confident. How you develop the role is completely up to you. I know I’m a hard act to follow but I’m sure you are up to it! Please email me if you are interested.[firstname.lastname@example.org]
We are also in real need of 4 more Brewery Liaison Officers, 3 in the Barnstaple and Bideford area and 1 at Hartland. If you are interested in this, email me and I can point you in the right direction. This job involves visiting your brewery, keeping in contact with your brewer and putting information on a computer system. Not too hard! It is an important job as without BLOs breweries do not get full representation at Regional and National level.
Finally some great news:
on SATURDAY 4TH JUNE
North Devon are hosting
THE SOUTHWEST REGION CAMPAIGNING DAY!
You may remember that last year there was a campaigning day in Dawlish to show CAMRA’s support for the area following the devastating weather and the demise of the railway.
This year we are supporting our country pubs where transport (or lack of it) can be an issue along with the impact of the government’s proposals for changes in the drink/drive laws. We aim to highlight how local communities and their pubs work together to support each other. I will keep you informed so that you can play your part and enjoy a great day.
